Emmy's
love of cats was evident even at an early age. Emmy's
grandmother Kay says that before she could talk, Emmy would
pretend to be a cat, and climb into her grandmother's lap and
purr. When asked by the media what Emmy might think about being
made a character in her favorite books, (In Long Shadows,
Brightspirit will be a cat who appears to the Medicine Cat,
Jaypaw, to give him the herbal cure that will save the cats of
the clans) Emmy's grandmother said, "I believe Emmy would be
jumping up and down, exclaiming 'I'm going to save the lives of
many, many cats!'"

Emmy's family (from left to right) Aunt Kelley, Aunt Scotty,
Grandmother Elaine, and Grandmother Kay visited with Erin Hunter
(Center) on her recent tour of North America at Davis-Kidd
Bookstore in Memphis.
Erin Hunter surprised and touched Emmy's family when she
reserved an empty seat for Emmy at the book signing. Erin Hunter
took time from her busy schedule to meet with Emmy's family for
an hour prior to the signing event.

Emmy's fifth grade classmates (left to right) Harley and Katy are seen here telling Erin about their upcoming September 6th booksale. They already have 100 donated boxes of books to sell. Their sale will be September 6, 2008, in the parking lot of Vintage Books at 602 E Parkway. Book donations are still being accepted, and all Warrior's fans are invited to shop with them. Books will be 50 cents for paperbacks and $1 for hardbacks. All proceeds will benefit the Brightspirit Relief Fund. Harley and Katy challenge all Warriors to step up in the Warrior Spirit to raise money for charities in their own communities.
